Learning Assistance Program (LAP)

The Learning Assistance Program (LAP) is a state program that provides funds to support students.

During the 2021 legislative session the legislature passed SHB 1208(link is external), a bill that significantly modifies state laws pertaining to the Learning Assistance Program (LAP). This law became effective on April 21, 2021. Please review the SHB 1208 bulletinquestions and answers, and timeline infographic for more information about these changes. Our team is currently working to update the information and materials on this webpage to align with the changes in law. If you have questions, please contact the LAP office at 360-725-6100, or email LAP(link sends e-mail).

At Soap Lake Elementary, we continue to focus on reading intervention. The state had added "poverty funding" to this program and that allows us to add significantly to our services and support for attendance remediation, and other at risk behaviors at all levels.
