3.7.2018 Modified Lockdown UPDATE

March 7, 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On behalf of the staff at Soap Lake School District, we would like to thank you for your patience in helping us deal with an incident today. Student safety is our primary concern. Around lunchtime today, we were made aware of a possible threat to the school. At that time, we contacted law enforcement and went into a modified lockdown. The elementary school also went into a modified lockdown. This lockdown continued during lunch for the High School. At about 1:40 we were able to lift the lockdown. All students on campus were safe during this incident.

We value the safety of each of our students and staff and appreciate all of the support and phone calls that we received.

Emergency plans for this type of situation are in place at the school and lockdown drills have been practiced. During this time, students were still in classes and worked on class work just as they would during a typical day.

An update about the event was posted on our school district Facebook page.

Again thank you for sending your students to Soap Lake School District. If you have any questions about the situation feel free to give us a call.

Middle High School Principal
